*Local name:-  black siris, Ceylon rosewood, fragrant albizia, tea shade tree, काला सिरिस.

*Family -  Mimosaceae

* Medicinal used –

Dental Care- its bark is used as a gargle due to its antimicrobial property for cleasing of the buccal cavity shirish stem/twing is used from ancient times for brushing teeth.

Eye Allergies - 2drops of shirish fresh leaf juice is instilled in each eye to prevent seasonal eye allergy excess lacrimation, and night - blindness.

Skin Allergies- Fine paste of its bark or leaf is applied over the skin lesions such as viral herpes or blisters associated with burning and itching.

 Black siris is an excellent companion tree. It fixes atmospheric nitrogen through a symbiotic relationship with bacteria on the root.

It is used in reforestation programmes and is also planted for soil conservation.It produces a well-developed root system that decreases erosion.

Tree canopies decrease soil desiccation and suppress weed growth.
